The Wrong Body Exhibit.

So, I was going to the Bodies Expo that came to Montreal, because I had missed going to the one that had come to Science World in Vancouver a few years back. A few days before going, I was checking it up on the internet, and discovered that it was not the same exhibition as the one featured at Science World. That one was the first exhibition made, called "Body Worlds" whereas this one is called "BODIES... The Exhibition"..... and reading about the controversy about the origins of the bodies in this exhibition (which is now not a problem in "Body Worlds") immediately made me decide not to go anymore, due to ethical reasons. So scary, if I had not checked it up a few days before, and had actually gone, and found out about this later... It would've left me with trails of regret and anger at my ignorance.

Thus, the Bodies Expo I did not go, and I am happier for it.

  2. Wikipedia, for starters! Omg you mean the Body Exposition is moving to Toronto after Montreal?! Not Body Worlds, right? Okay, basically, there's the controversy of "where did you get these bodies"? I suppose it was naive of me to assume automatically that these bodies are people who've willingly donated their bodies to science- but not true, as I found out. The Body Expo's bodies do not have legal documentation stating who they are (death certificates and the such), and controversy includes accusations that among these bodies could be the remains of Chinese prisoners (executed and such), and bodies sold on the black market. It certainly repulsed me, on top of the apprehension at seeing real human bodies put on display. Displaying human bodies for profit is also another controversy, but this one applies to Body Worlds and all other such exhibitions. The owner of Body Worlds has now certified that all the bodies are legit, and have death certificates and documentation to prove who they are etc.; bodies that did not have documentation in the early days of the exhibition are no longer there, so there's no issue about unknown origins and all that. Go google/wiki it for more info..

  3. p.s. correction: there ARE bodies that have proper documentation in Body Expo, just NOT ALL. There is uncertainty regarding the bodies displayed, I suppose you can say it's a mish-mash of confusion between what's legit, and what's got an issue of uncertain documentation...

  4. did u like post 15 entries in one day?

anyways not gonna read all of it yet but this entry really went me go whattttt and ok i remember body worlds having legal documention, at least it should, cuz during that time the newspapers were all over covering the event and explaining the process of how they preserve the bodies and make them into the displays. also there were sign up sheets at the event of whether you wanted to donate your body to science (also asked you how healthy you are) after you die so if there was controversy over where the bodies came from for body worlds i should've read about it cuz i was keeping up with the news on it back then

and yea what i read from your comment.. that is just creepy...

  5. No... looking at the dates, there's no way I posted 15 entries on one day! Also, a few I didn't post up before, they were saved as drafts...
