So, the beautiful white, red, and green flower crest in front of the main building on the McGill campus (aka, the Arts Building) is more than it seems. On the tour that I took last year at McGill, the tour guide told us that James McGill's remains were dug up later on with permission to do research or something, and then was later laid to rest under where the flower crest (which is arranged to look like McGill's red and white crest. The story the tour guide told us was that McGill was buried beside his long-time accountant, and the over time, the graves somehow shifted, and that James McGill is actually buried here with part of his accountant. She added that, "We like to say that McGill liked to keep his money close."That, my friends, is slightly disturbing.
Just to confirm, I found this:
"Farther up the hill, the visitors learn that McGill’s remains lie beneath the monument in front of the Arts Building – along with part of the skeleton of his longtime business partner and accountant. (McGill was originally buried in Montreal’s Old Protestant Cemetery, but his tomb was moved here when the cemetery was eradicated in 1875; the extra bones were discovered in the 1990s.)" -http://reporter.mcgill.ca/2008/08/tour-guides-show-mcgill-skeleton-and-all-2/
